Find the Perfect Dress

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

As much fun a prom dress shopping can be, finding the perfect fit can be more than frustrating. In order to find what flatters your figure, you have to know your figure whether you are heavy bottomed, narrow hipped or big busted.

For those with a small bust, heavy bottom and a wide waist, try to balance things out. You can do this by making shoulders more prominent with full sleeve dresses or cute cap sleeves. A long bodice and full skirts highlight your waste and hide the hip area. To shrink your wide waist, look for a gown with an empire waistline.

If you are one with a full bust and narrow hips, try to soften your shoulder area and highlight your lower body. Dresses with simples sleeves and natural shoulder lines will take away from your top and bring more focus to your bottom half. Full skirts with details such as bows and sashes will bring more attention to your hips. Avoid dresses with an empire waistline, deep necklines or simple straight skirts.

Girls with a square figure, straight bust and hips and very little curves, should use their prom gown to create fictional "curves." Look for full skirts with straight necklines. The more horizontal lines on your dress, the less vertical and narrow your shape will look. For a bigger top, a dress with big shoulders and a full skirt will create that curvy, hourglass shape. The hourglass type, or small waist with full hips and bust, should work to show off her curves, not hide them. Simple designs that are not embellished in decoration will prevent you from looking heavier than you are. Classic gowns with off the shoulder sleeves or strapless dresses really show off your shoulders and neckline. Avoid anything that minimizes the bust or makes your hips look bigger.
