| Last March, former Disney CEO Michael Eisner started producing another racy scripted high school soap opera. This is nothing like Beverly Hills 90210 or Degrassi. This online show is about one thing - being prom queen. Each episode is short, only a minute and a half, but tells the similar stories of high school drama. Even through the episodes are short, producers are still able to get the plot across which usually involves romance, sex and emotional adolescence. And the show's tag line, "Some Girls Would Kill for It," leaves some sort of mystery at the end of every episode. What is really new and interesting about this show is that it is the first to use the Internet as a television medium. It just shows that the Internet is not just for adults and professionals. Teenagers are embracing the new technologies, if parents agree with it or not. Either way, something is appealing to the online audience of teenagers, or maybe it's just the guilty pleasure of some good old fashion high school drama. |
