Is Your Dress Danceworthy?

You love how it looks in the full-length mirror. But when you hit the dance floor, will your dress keep up with your moves? Here's a list of things to check in the dressing room to danceproof your dress.

When you're trying on your dress, move your arms around in circles, up and down, and in any way you may find your arms swinging on the big night. Don't worry, no one's watching.

Try your dress on with heels, preferably the ones you plan to wear with the dress. This will help you avoid stepping on your train if your dress is long. No one wants to fall flat on her face while doing the moonwalk. Walk around in your dress, at the very least.

Now, the next part is vital: twist around, bend over, move how you usually groove on the dance floor. No music necessary. Does anything pull or stretch? Do any body parts fall out of place? Do you have to tug at your straps or pull up your top? If you answer yes to any of these, try a new gown.

Now, imagine yourself all sweaty. I mean, glistening. No, this isn't gross, it's important prep for a perfect prom or fancy occasion. Do you perspire easily? Will the fabric show sweat? Locate your problem areas and make sure they aren't covered to avoid sweat stains.

Finally, assess your dance skills. Are you a mover and shaker? If so, is your dress durable enough to do the dance floor? If you tend to get close, think twice about delicate embroidery and embellishments that could snag and rip easily.
