Two days and counting until your prom. Are you psyched? Well, you should be. Tiza is here to help you get prepared and posh for the best night of your life. So take these tips and heed them to; the best prom ever is up to you.
1) We're down to the wire ladies, underwire that is. Now's the time to try on your whole get up, including underwear. Check for panty lines and peek-a-boo bra straps. You still have time for a last minute run to the mall. 2) Be ten minutes early to all your appointments. You might get an early start on that French manicure. We can't have a hurried hairstylist teasing your hair to a fro. 3) Remember to pick up the boutonniere. Make sure it's the flower and color you ordered. 4) Call your date. This is mandatory! Guys tend to forget details like corsages and important times. Remind him that prom is indeed in less than 48 hours. Oh, and remind him to pick up his tux, too. 5) Try not to drink any caffeine before the big day so you will sleep well. Rest is important for a long night out! Plus, you're probably anxious. This leads to restlessness. 6) Go over a little etiquette while you whittle away the hours. You can find great table manners on the Internet. 7) Charge your cell phone and camera. 8) Get dressed. Get set. Get going! Finally, don't flip out. You've done everything you need, so relax and let the fun begin! |

About to make your grand entrance into the pageant world? Tiza knows the ropes. Tiza has created numerous award-winning gown ensembles--from 2007 Miss USA..... Now, we're ready to share our pageant secrets to get you crowned and showered in petals, no matter what stage you choose to walk across. Pre-pageant Prep A pageant is more than what you'll wear. Do your research. Find the pageant that fits you. Look at pageant requirements to make sure your talents compliment. Research previous winners to see what responsibilities are. Take care of yourself. No diet pills, crash diets or over-exercising. This only drains you of natural energy and won't make you lose weight. Talk to a nutritionist for real nutrition advice, and a personal trainer for a regimen that's detailed to your body. You don't have to be a tan, 5'9" blonde to win. Accentuate your natural colors and shape with your dress. Tiza offers pageant gowns in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Finally, don't change anything the week before--dress, talent, hair color or otherwise. Day Of Duties Be on time. That means don't stay out late the night before. Get enough sleep. No carbonated beverages to avoid bloating. Stay stress free by surrounding yourself with positive, calm people who won't freak you out. Soothing music and candles are vital de-stressors. They will help you focus on your fact sheet and possible interview questions. Be friendly backstage. Show Down Breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth. Think of something funny before walking on stage to get a real smile and avoid looking plastic. Even if you trip, keep your head held high and a proud smile on your face. Walk slowly with shoulders back, like you've already won. Lastly, have fun. Hey, you just put in a ton of work. You're already royalty. |
Think your spectacles will be a laughing spectacle at prom or your next formal occasion? Think again, doll. Glasses can be a sexy accessory when paired with the right dress. So, don't go blind just yet, take these tips to the store and learn how to work glam into your glasses. Your glasses already flatter your face. (We hope you only bought a pair that would accentuate your features.) So really, your customized set of eyes can only jazz up your dress décor. Glasses can be the focal point of an evening ensemble, especially if your extra eyes are flashy or trendy enough. Have a pair of cat-eyes with rhinestones? Think simple and chic when it comes to your dress and your eyes will definitely pop. A little extra makeup and your face will steal the show. Try matching your dress color with your glasses for a gorgeous package deal--beautiful bifocals included. But do this only if the color of your glasses complements your skin, which it should be if you wear them every day. This technique works best with rich colors, like deep golds, browns, reds and blues. For a radically distinct look, try conjuring the ultimate contrast. If you wear white glasses, wear a black dress, or the opposite. Sharp and sassy does it. Remember to think of your glasses as a legit accessory, not part of your face. So, don't overdo jewelry if you plan to ditch the contacts. In fact, our stylists at Tiza recommend limiting jewelry to bracelets and basic stud earrings to avoid the gaudy factor. We're not playing dress-up here, girls. We're getting gorgeous! So no more nerd alert. This just in: glasses are the hottest accessory of the season. Polish and wear with pride! |
Hey girls! Time for some body talk. You've got a very important prom evening scheduled. Is your hair and skin prepared? Let's bust some skin and hair beauty myths that keep you from looking your best for prom night. 1) Only tan girls are pretty. This is just stupid. Flip through any magazine and you'll find gorgeous porcelain-skinned models that literally glow in the spotlight. How many times must we say that oven-baked and orange is not lovely. 2) Drinking lots of water will clear your skin. That's a no. While water is good for you and definitely benefits every part of your body, if you drink too much, you'll just have to pee every five seconds. Don't drink more than eight glasses a day. No floating kidneys, please. 3) Acne can be scrubbed away. Negative! Scrubbing your skin raw actually makes your skin produce more oil. Unless you want to grease the limo, be gentle with your skin. 4) Thick eyebrows make you look like a monkey. Um, no. Girls with thick eyebrows generally have thick hair. This is part of your package, darling. Keep those brows in line by tweezing or waxing stray hairs beneath the brow, but never ever wax on top of the brow. 5) You should wash your hair every day. Absolutely not. Depending on your scalp type (how much oil your skin produces), it's good to wash your hair every 3-5 days. This will give your locks a lovely, healthy sheen and avoid stripping your hair of essential oils. 6) Lemon Juice will lighten your hair. Come on. Your grandma's tips don't fly these days. Plus, it just doesn't work. If you want subtle highlights, head to a salon. Only professionals should handle your tresses. Now that you've passed Beauty Myths 101 for prom, go get glam! |

Who are you shopping with? If your mom stresses you out, go shopping with a friend whose opinion you trust. Don't shop with your boyfriend. Just don't. Are you in a time crunch? Try not to cram in shopping time between classes or in a tight schedule. You'll likely look over the perfect dress if you scurry around a mall or frantically scroll through web pages. Plan a whole afternoon devoted to dress shopping. Choose your dress in your right mind. This could be the most important decision ever. |

Don't let stress get you in a tizzy one week before prom. We can't have a splotchy complexion! Take a deep breath, and take care of our one-week wonder list. If you've got everything checked off, you're ready for a ball! 1) Start sleeping well now. Try to get eight hours every night. If you can't sleep like a baby, at least be in bed with the lights off or dim. Try reading an especially boring book until you fall asleep. Adequate sleep prevents dark circles under the eyes. No ghosts going to prom this year. |

8) Be careful. Now's not the time to try back flips in the front yard. Casts aren't cool with corsages. 9) Finally, don't change anything. Under stress, you might be tempted to buy a whole new dress or dye your hair red. Don't. You've made wise choices while sane, so let's keep it that way.
