Happy Thanksgiving, friends! November 2010 Archives
Happy Thanksgiving, friends!
"On Thrift America, scheduled to be broadcast on PBS next summer ... Chung will comb the country's consignment shops, garage sales and flea markets for old clothing and other potential treasures to use in creative endeavors. A few of the places [she will] visit include Detroit, Nashville, and Brooklyn (and, on a less populist note, fashion capitals like Paris and London). Think of it as Antiques Roadshow meets the foodie romp Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations."
What do you think? Are you excited to learn where Alexa scavenges all her best finds? Or was MTV's decision to cancel her program a good one?
He may still be in high school (or at least, of high school age), but Justin Bieber has a message for young people: It gets better. The teenage pop star released an anti-bullying video this week (via Ellen TV) encouraging teens to change their mean-spirited ways. Check it out below. And let us know what you think!
Congratulations to Alyssa Campanella! The 20-year-old Hillsborough, CA native took home the crown at Miss California 2011 this week, beating out dozens of other girls to take over for Nicole Johnson, the state's outgoing title-holder.Of course, we at Tiza are already familiar with the beautiful Ms. Campanella -- you can find her all over Tiza's (newly re-designed) website, showing off some of our favorite designs.
Check out Alyssa in some gorgeous Sherri Hill gowns below -- and check out our site to see more!
Congrats again to the new Miss California 2011!

Happy Thanksgiving from Tiza Prom Dresses! Taylor Swift
Looking confident in a rock-n-roll mini. But the hair is different! What do you think? Katy Perry
Girly, flirty, and fun -- not unlike the singer herself.Miley Cyrus
I'm into this fun-but-refined ensemble.Nicki Minaj
So far the craziest look of the night? What are your thoughts on her multi-colored hair? Rihanna
Rihanna's showing off her new hair -- but does it overwhelmed a little by the dress? What do you think was the best performance of the night?
The impersonation reared its head on the show's "Miley Cyrus Show," wherein first-year cast member Vanessa Bayer (who we love) does her own pretty fantastic take on the young country starlet, in the form of a fake talk show.
Hathaway turned up on the show as Katie Holmes, and after Cyrus points out that she was on Dawson's Creek "back in the 1900s!" she asks her a series of hard-hitting questions about Tom Cruise, Scientology, Jesus, and why her daughter, Suri, wears high heels. Hathaway responds in Holmes' trademark (if Dawson's Creek-era) tortured demeanor, complete with hair-twisting habit.
Check out the clip, below, and let us know how you feel about it:

It's also pretty significant when a Tiza dress makes a cameo on the reality television program - much like on this week's episode, in which pop star MAAD*MOISELLE wears a stunning Sherri Hill number during a performance of "Outrun the Sun" with Madcon.
The New Jersey-born electro-pop singer looked great in the piece.
Check out the performance -- and the dress -- below:
Since the announcement this week, speculation has begun to swirl surrounding the details of the affair: Will the couple wed at Westminster Abbey? Will Kate take lessons in "being royal"? But obviously what everyone really wants to know is what the bride-to-be will wear on her wedding day.
Middleton has already demonstrated an affinity for the brand Issa -- which she wore on the day the couple made public their engagement -- but we think she would look nice in a gorgeous Sherri Hill gown as well. What do you think Kate will/should wear? And remember! Tiza gowns aren't just perfect for the red carpet and/or the prom -- they look lovely on brides as well. Check out Tiza designs (including those by the lovely Sherri Hill) right here.
Alexandria Mills, the first American to take the title of Miss World, might already be facing a Carrie Prejean-like scandal: Radar Online reports that there are some rather...unprofessional pictures of her making the internet circuits.
Two more big names have been added to the star-studded lineup of performers for this month's American Music Awards: Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus.
Looking for the perfect little black dress?
This week's Country Music Awards were a major event for any in-the-know fan of country music -- and also Sherri Hill. In addition to Miranda Lambert, who wore not one but four Sherri Hill frocks at the awards show, another amazing country star touted the Sherri Hill name: Carrie Underwood.

Ke$ha:
This outfit is relatively tame compared to what Ke$ha broke out later on:
Big time neon. Rihanna:
Ri goes glam on the red carpet...
She, too, breaks out the high-concept getup for her musical performance:
Miley Cyrus:

The newly-wed pop star shows up with husband Russell Brand. Dressed as a ticket? What do you guys think?
Lady Gaga brought home three awards at tonight's European Music Awards (EMAs), taking home prizes for best female artist, best pop act and best song ("Bad Romance") at the ceremony in Madrid.Gaga was in Budapest for a concert, so she accepted the three awards (in various outfits, naturally) via video.
"I wish so much that I could be there," Gaga said, before launching into a performance for the European crowd via webcam.
She and Katy Perry both went into the contest with five nominations. Perry won best video, for "California Gurls."
Check out some of our favorite looks below:
Carey Mulligan:
On the rack, this dress might not stand out. On Carey Mulligan, obviously, it's stunning. Also love the shoes. Dakota Fanning:
For a 16-year-old, Fanning demonstrates unsettling poise and good taste. Rosario Dawson
This dress would look wretched on basically anyone else on the planet. That alone is worth some credit. Olivia Wilde

Simple, classic, gorgeous. That's all.
Sure, it's technically a fictional wedding, and the betrothed couple is interspecies human-vampire, but nevertheless: Bella Swann (aka Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) are getting married. In a movie to be released, I think, sometime next year? Anyway, word on the street is that Zac Posen may be designing the wedding dress for the fictional bride. When asked to confirm or deny, Posen was coy: "I can't. I don't speak about any of my projects and the reality of her non reality," he said, before adding: "You know I do love a wedding."
So... is it true? Do you want it to be true? (I, for one, think Sherri Hill would do a fine job with such an assignment.) Leave your thoughts in the comments...

It's almost Thanksgiving -- which means that it's nearly time for the first half of the seventh and final Harry Potter film installation. The Harry Potter Thanksgiving movie tradition is one that some of us (me) wish could go on indefinitely. And while that's not really a realistic option, luckily, there are two things in which to take solace: 1) J. K. Rowling might be working on something new, and 2) these last two movies promise to be pretty good.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 opens on November 19th. Check out the trailer below:
