Happy New Year, all! We want to wish all of our friends and fans happiness and health in 2011. Don't forget to keep checking back at Tiza for the newest styles -- and sales -- plus all the rest of your prom and pageant dress needs in the coming year.
New York is currently experiencing a pretty massive snowstorm: the state is projected to get up to fifteen inches of snow.
It all seems very wintry and magical -- until you take into consideration the fact that today is basically the biggest holiday travel day of the year. (Except for maybe... Thanksgiving?)
Basically all trains, buses, and planes going into the city have been canceled through Monday. On the one hand, that means: no school tomorrow! On the other: really, really long lines at the airport.
So our best to all of those Tiza friends and family members who are traveling today. Try to keep up your holiday spirits through the tough travel times -- and remember that New Year's Eve is just around the corner.

Next week, Gwyneth Paltrow's movie "Country Strong," about a washed-up country star trying to make her way back to the top (or at least out of the dark), is coming out. The movie's already attracted a fair amount of controversy -- the least of which started when Gwyneth performed at the Country Music Awards.
One of the main complaints has been, obviously, that Gwyneth Paltrow is not technically a country singer -- and so she doesn't necessarily have the voice of a country star. (A Natalie Portman/Black Swan comparison probably wouldn't be totally out of place here.)
But what do you think? Is Paltrow convincing as a country star or do you think she's a weak choice for the movie? Do you plan on seeing it?
I have to say that, at least initially, I'm more a fan of "Me & Tennessee" (which is a duet with Tim McGraw and which I believe Paltrow's husband Chris Martin, of Coldplay, wrote) than of the eponymous "Country Strong" -- Paltrow's main solo vehicle in the film.
Want to see how Willow Smith whips her hair? The tiny starlet, who made her pop debut with the sensational "Whip My Hair," gave the London's Sunday Times an exclusive interview on being an underage pop star, what it's like having two superfamous parents, and the "regular-kid" rules she may or may not have to follow.
Check out behind-the-scenes footage from the shoot below.
Carine Roitfeld, the longtime editor-in-chief of French Vogue, announced on Friday that she'll be leaving the magazine in 2011. The news shocked much of the fashion world but Roitfeld, who had been editing the magazine for ten years, had a pretty simple explanation: "It's ten years that I'm editor of the magazine," she told Cathy Horyn in a recent interview with the New York Times. "I think it's time to do something different.
Roitfeld is known for her impeccable taste and her willingness to take risks. And while she admitted the job was a good one, she also argued that sometimes, if things get a little too cushy, maybe it means you're not challenging yourself anymore.
"I had so much freedom to do everything I wanted. I think I did a good
job." She said, adding, "When everything is good, maybe I think it's the
time to do something else."
She does have a point, but we'll miss her anyway. In the meantime, however, we eagerly await her next move!
Over the weekend, Congress finally repealed a 1990s-era law that prohibited openly gay men and women from serving in the military. The gay community has long fought against this measure, and President Obama has been advocating for its elimination since his days on the campaign trail. So the weekend repeal was seen as a major victory for gay rights advocates. Lady Gaga, who has also been vocal on her support for repeal, issued a prompt response to a tweet by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. (Side note: Did you ever expect to see such a thing as the highest-ranking senator exchanging tweets with one of the world's least conventional pop stars?)
Reads Lady Gaga's ecstatic tweet: "Can't hold back the tears+pride. We did it!i Our voice was heard + today the Senate REPEALED DADT. A triumph for equality after 17 YEARS"
Of course, Lady Gaga never claimed not to be a little bit of a drama queen. But some things are worth celebrating.
Are you as excited about seeing the new Coen Brothers movie, True Grit, as I am? The film, starring Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and the sassy young Hailee Steinfeld (who, has anyone else noticed, would be perfect as Katniss in the Hunger Games series?), is a Coen brothers-remake of a classic western story. At the film's New York premiere this week, the clothes were not so Western -- but the actors shone in them nevertheless. Check out some of our favorite looks below.
Hailee Steinfeld
Adorable! Classic! And much like the actress's character, totally spunky.
We know we've been talking a lot about the amazing Miranda Lambert these days. But it's hard to help -- the country music star is all over the place! And she's rocking Sherri Hill left and right.
Check her out at left on the cover(!) of Country Weekly -- where she's holding on to just a few of her many recent music awards. She also just happens to be wearing a Sherri Hill dress -- which, if you happen to be interested, you can purchase right here.
Miranda has also been making the rounds when it comes to the most recent celebrity best-dressed lists.
Check out an entire two-page magazine spread featuring her below! And see if you can spot a few more Sherri Hill dresses while you're at it....
We at Tiza know that finding the perfect holiday dress can be a trying occasion. Especially toward the end of the year, when a slew of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's-related parties necessitate a variety of appropriate frocks. And that's where we come in! Whether you want to rock a look that's classic, sexy, or a little bit rock'n'roll, Tiza.com has the dress for you. (See below for some holiday party inspirational looks.)
Speaking of Sherri Hill at this year's American Country Awards: the 29-year-old actress and country singer Laura Bell Bundy also turned up on the red carpet rocking a gorgeous design by our own Sherri Hill.
Bundy, a musical theater star who played the leads in the original Broadway productions of Legally Blonde -- as Elle Woods -- and Hairspray -- as Amber Von Tussle, just released her first-ever country album earlier this year. But she's already hitting the top of the season's the best-dressed lists!
Are you a fan of Bundy's sparkly, fringey, frock? Check out more just like it at Tiza.com!
The actual wedding's not for five months, but soon-to-be royal couple Prince William and Kate Middleton are keeping the public (at least partially) appeased lately, with a recent slew of public appearances and interviews about their impending nuptials.
Indeed, the duo -- who is set to wed at Westminster Abbey in late April -- recently posed for a set of engagement photos, shot by esteemed fashion photographer Mario Testino.
And while the wedding dress has yet to be determined (at least, we haven't read anything to the contrary), word on the street is that Middleton has upped her athletic endeavors in order to be in top shape on the big day. Let's all hope that the world cuts the young woman some slack, though? Enduring the stresses of a royal sound ... well, kind of like a royal pain.
The upside, of course, would be becoming a princess.
Did you catch the American Country Awards this week? If so, you probably noticed a number of stunning dresses (and young women!) working the red carpet. Particularly given the abundance of Sherri Hill frocks at the event.
Congrats to Shea Fisher, the lovely 22-year-old Australia-born country music singer who showed off this lovely Sherri Hill mini at the awards! She looks pretty stunning, if we do say so.
Do you love how Shea looks in the dress? Check it out at our website: the rising country music sensation is rocking Sherri Hill design 1403, which is available for purchase right here at Tiza.com.
Want to know how to dance like the Bieber? Now's your chance to learn. In this week's special interview with ABC's Barbara Walters -- conducted as a part of her annual "10 Most Fascinating People" series, Walters sat down with the young pop star to talk about life as the most popular 16-year-old in the world. And after it was all over, the teenage heartthrob got Babs on her feet -- for some impromptu dance lessons. Watch below as Bieber tries to teach Walters to "Dougie." (This, for those of you not aware (but maybe you are?) is a move that apparently involves running your hand through your hair a lot.)
If you've been paying attention around these parts, you probably know by now that we at Tiza are a big fan of country singing sensation Miranda Lambert. Not only is Lambert a lovely and talented musician -- she's also got great taste in clothes!
So it was an honor that Lambert chose yet another custom Sherri Hill design for the recent artist's dinner for the Kennedy Center Honors -- an annual honor bestowed upon to those in the performing arts for their lasting and varied contributions to American culture.
Among this year's honorees were Oprah Winfrey, Paul McCartney, Bill T. Jones, Merle Haggard, and Jerry Herman -- and they drew a talented, star-studded crowd.
Congrats to the amazing artists who were honored -- and a big thumbs up to Miranda Lambert, too.
Now could be your chance to achieve both goals in one fell swoop: Sherri Hill is going to be featured in several episodes of a new Discovery reality show, Prom Queens. The show, which centers around young women who are getting ready for the big night -- is casting Friday, December 10 and Saturday December 11, in Oklahoma City -- and you could be its next participant. (Future casting dates and locations are likely to be added soon.)
Anyone else here a fan of "Glee"? What about the flame-tressed singer Florence and the Machine? Oh, me too! So I was pleasantly surprised when the Glee kids took on Florence's "Dog Days are Over" in this week's episode, which, without getting into any spoilers, seemed to imply that actually there are some dog days up ahead. Regardless, I thought the performance was pretty respectable. What about you guys?
Jersey Shore favorite Snooki is back in action showing off her gorgeous Sherri Hill designs. This week, she'll be featured alongside her castmates on Barbara Walters' 10 Most Fascinating People of 2010 list. Check out her awesome dress above -- and don't forget to tune in on Decmber 9th at 10pm ET on ABC to see it on the small screen!
Stuck at home this Christmas break with nothing to do? Lucky for you, there are a bunch of excellent movies on the radar. Check out our Holiday 2010 movie roundup. And let us know if you have any additions to it!
Black Swan
Natalie Portman plays a tortured ballerina who's struggling to hold on to her dream job -- the lead dancer in Swan Lake. A mix of creepiness and beauty ensues.
How Do You Know
Reese Witherspoon + Paul Rudd + Owen Wilson + Rom-com.... Need we say more? (Actually, we don't know that much more -- something about Reese Witherspoon being a softball player and Paul Rudd being a shamed businessman -- but we're excited to see it anyway.)
Congrats to this year's crew of Grammy-nominated artists! The list of possible award-winners was released on Wednesday, and it's an impressive one. In addition to Sherri Hill friend and favorite Miranda Lambert -- whose "The House that Built Me" scored a nom for Song of the Year -- singers like Eminem, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and even the cast of "Glee" are up for some major prizes.
Eminem picked up the most nods of the evening, with 10 nominations -- for some of the night's biggest awards, like Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Album of the Year.
Indie favorites like Arcade Fire and Florence and the Machine also earned mentions: Arcade Fire's new album, "The Suburbs," is nominated for Album of the Year, and Flo got a nod for Best New Artist -- for which she's up against Justin Bieber.
Who were your favorite artists of 2010? Were any of your favorites left off the list? Let us know!
