June 2011 Archives The BET Awards are tonight, and so far, a lot has gone down: Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj have won big, Kanye West brought home the prize for Best Male Hip Hop Artist, and Beyonce is on deck to perform. But so far, the best red carpet image has come via the Smith siblings: Jaden and Willow (who won an award of their own this evening) are clearly channeling their dad tonight. Are you guys watching? This weekend in the UK, more than 100,000 people turned out to see an incredible lineup of musicians perform in the mud-splattered fields. Beyonce closed out the festival with an eclectic mix -- her lineup included covers by Lady Gaga, Prince, the Kings of Leon, Alanis Morissette, as well as, obviously, her own new album.  Casey Weston, a contestant on NBC's "The Voice," wore Sherri Hill style #8300 this week during her performance. The young singer, who performed one of our favorites -- "I Will Always Love You" -- is amazingly talented. We love her voice -- and (naturally) her style. Check out the dress right here.  Did you love Alyssa Campanella's emerald green Miss USA evening gown? We hope so! It was exclusively designed by Sherri Hill for the occasion. And in a recent interview with InStyle, Hill broke down what made the gown so special: "Alyssa broke all 'pageant rules' by wearing an unusual high fashion design," Hill told InStyle.com, "and choosing emerald green for competition rather than a more traditional pageant color." The bodice of the dress, (all of which was custom-made), was crafted with French beads, sequins and Swarovski crystals on tulle, while the skirt was made with silk taffeta and horsehair, which gave it a stronger, more architectural shape.  We were thrilled when Alyssa Campanella was crowned Miss USA -- the 21-year-old Californian has been a longtime Sherri Hill friend and model. So it was no surprise that Campanella looked gorgeous in the custom-made Sherri Hill gown -- in which she was crowned with the legendary tiara -- on Sunday night. Doesn't she look lovely? Congrats again to Alyssa. Don't forget to cheer her on in the Miss Universe 2011 pageant!

The gorgeous Hillsborough, CA native took will now replace Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih as the bearer of the crown. Were you impressed with her performance Sunday night?  Sunday night, keep your eyes peeled for Sherri Hill designs at the Miss USA 2011 pageant -- obviously one of our favorite events of the year! The pageant airs Sunday night on NBC.This year's pageant is particularly exciting for us over here at Tiza, because Sherri Hill is the official fashion sponsor for the event this year. That means that as the pageant airs from Las Vegas on June 19th, all of the 51 contestants in the show will grace the stage in one of her gowns. The ladies will be wearing all sorts of of styles -- from short, flirty cocktail dresses, to floor-length evening gowns. Hill has been a major name in the pageant dress circle for years now, so it's only natural that she be named the official fashion sponsor! "It's a real art form to marry an individual contestant's personality and sense of style into one defining dress," says Sherri Hill. "My goal is to always create a look that is fresh, elegant and distinctive and allows each contestant to stand apart without distracting from her own beauty. It is also imperative that each gown be comfortable and easy to walk in allowing seamless movement on stage." Congrats to the team -- and mark your calendar for the big day! Check out some gorgeous Sherri Hill designs right here  It's not always easy being different in high school -- but Andrew Viveros, a transgender teen from Davies, Florida, is embracing her identity and trying to make a difference. And her popularity certainly doesn't seem to be hurting as a result: the brave student at McFatter Technical High School was crowned prom queen earlier this spring. "I am trying to do every interview I can," Viveros told the Sun-Sentinel in an interview. "I don't want to turn anyone down. Anyone might be watching or reading." Viveros, who also goes as Andii, recently made a video for the "It Gets Better" campaign -- and since being crowned queen, she's set up a website encouraging young people to "Tell Me Your Story!" "I want people to know there is someone they can talk to," she said. "I love that my message is getting out there," she continued. "Everyone that has been bullied or taunted because they are different, I am proof that things get better. I want people to feel like they can be themselves." So, needless to say, we were pretty excited when contestant Raquel Castro wore Sherri Hill style #1429 during her performance on the June 8 episode of the show! Castro, who you might also know from her role in the movie "Jersey Girl," is an amazing singer, and a gorgeous girl. We wish her well on the show -- and can't wait to see her in more Sherri Hill! You should -- not only because it is, ahem, one of the most prominent fashion events of the year (which it is!) but also because Sherri Hill made a pretty excellent appearance there, on the stunning Angela Bellotte. See the gorgeous white jersey gown at left! The awards ceremony took place at the regal Lincoln Center, and Bellotte -- a Victoria's Secret model -- went on the arm of hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons.
