Celebrity: June 2010 Archives

Forbes' Celebrity 100 list has been revealed, and there were some interesting entries on the list. Oprah, of course, was back on top (after being unceremoniously ousted from her rightful place by Angelina Jolie last year), and stars like Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Swift, Robert Pattinson and Miley Cyrus all got mentions as well. Britney Spears was also on there -- with the surprisingly-high sixth place spot. (Tina Fey, on the other hand, barely made the cut at number 90.) Sadly, though, the list was rather male-heavy: Despite a promising start (6 of the top 10 were women) only 35 women made the list at all. 

Word has it that Miley Cyrus -- controversial teen pop star (and vampire-hater) -- will perform has it at the closing ceremony of the 2010 Fifa World Cup. Cyrus has been getting a lot of attention lately, for everything from her sexy-seeming behavior, to her new album (Can't Be Tamed) to her comments about other celebs. But in the end, the girl knows how to put on a good performance. Plus, it's a reason for non-soccer fans to tune in! What song do you think she'll sing?

On Jimmy Kimmel this week, the cast of Jersey Shore had the performances of a lifetime ... in a reenactment of Twilight. Definitely worth a watch on a hot summer day! Check out the truly amazing video here:

Get ready, Twihards. You only have four days until the premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is officially released in theaters. How will you pass the time until the big day? You could re-read all of the books in the series -- but depending on how fast you read, this task could take you about four days, or about four years. Thought you had a crazy prom experience? Check out this new digital short by funnymen Jason Bateman and Will Arnett -- both of whom will look familiar to you if you've ever watched the (unfortunately) now-cancelled tv show Arrested Development -- if you want to see what a truly weird prom date looks like. The short (called, naturally, "The Prom Date") stars Arnett, Bateman, Rachael Harris, and Aubrey Plaza. Happy Friday!

Summit films has confirmed that Twilight: Breaking Dawn will be released in two parts, as blogger JustJared.com has reported. The first of the two installations will be released in theatres on November 18, 2011, and Dreamgirls director Bill Condon will helm both. 

Miley Cyrus has taken a lot of hits lately for what has been considered by some to be overly-adult behavior, and sexually-charged performances. Though I take no position on the young singer's individual actions -- and whether or not they're appropriate for someone her age -- I do think that the girl has a point about the double standard situation. In response to rumors of a breakup, Miley Cyrus took to her website for purposes of clarification:

Alexander Wang -- one of NYC's favorite artsy downtown fashion fixtures -- has finally confirmed that he's opening his own store -- and launching a new line to go in it. The line will be a collection of "essentials," including, initially,  two jackets, three pairs of pants, and a shirt, all of which could cost anywhere from $260 to $550.

Other people like, say, Brad Pitt, Britney Spears, and Lady Gaga (nee Stefani Germanotta, which is how she appears in this pic). You won't be disappointed.
