Recently, Ellen Degeneres revealed that she won't be returning to American Idol, citing that the workload, along with her daytime talk show, was more than she had bargained for. It's a disappointment for Ellen fans, though, in light of recent speculation claiming Ellen's stress over her crazy amount of responsibilities, it's not totally a surprise. She also said she didn't feel comfortable (or even wholly qualified) criticizing kids who weren't exactly Kelly Clarkson proteges. Which just makes me like her more!

Now, word on the internet is that Jennifer Lopez may replace her as a judge on the show. J.Lo may not exactly be the funniest lady out there -- though who knows; the singer is one of the more mysterious megastars out there -- but at least she knows what it takes to make it. What do you think? Would you watch J.Lo on American Idol?
This week, the Project Runway contestants past and present rocked out their designs on the red carpet for the season 8 premiere. Check out some of the best looks below:

Heidi Klum

Rocking a white jumpsuit is never easy -- and this woman has had four children!

Coco Rocha

Ever sophisticated, Rocha somehow manages to make the nun look chic.

Daramis Lewis

Somehow manages wild-print jacket and a zip-front dress? Obviously, she's a model.

Althea Harper

Lots of mesh going on here... Do you think she pulls it off or not quite?

Ivy Higa
103144832_10.jpeg
Simple and sweet!

Ping Wu

Severe haircut with oddly sweet dress. I'm kind of digging the dichotomy.

Gossip Girl Goes to China?

Gossip Girl
producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage may just be getting bored with their American teen television empire: They're thinking of creating an original Gossip Girl spin-off -- in China. Apparently the show has quite the potential market there. "They estimate that more people watch us online in China than watch us in all forms of viewing combined in the United States," Savage said. "We are not streaming it. They are watching it illegally."

Sounds like a built in market. Do you think they should produce the show?

Laura Dekker, the 14-year-old Dutch teenager who is attempting to make a solo trip around the world, was met with more obstacles this week when a Dutch child care agency demanded that the teenager wait another year before embarking on her journey. The agency was concerned about Dekker's emotional development.

After the recent drama involving 16-year-old Abby Sunderland, who was briefly lost at sea while attempting the same journey, and the resulting debate about whether or not she should have been allowed to go in the first place, it's no surprise that authorities would be hesitant to approve a much younger teenager for the trip. What do you think? Should parents be allowed to be the ones to decide whether or not their kids are physically and emotionally fit to make such an ambitious journey? Is 14 truly too young?

Taylor Momsen-1-30-10-1.jpeg
Taylor Momsen, formerly the sweet-faced blonde of Gossip Girl, has long since shed her innocent little-sister look: These days, the 16-year-old starlet can frequently be seen stalking the street in six-inch heels, chain-smoking, and performing with her band, The Pretty Restless. But while Momsen's career trajectory may not be totally mom-approved, the fashion industry appears to like it just fine: In addition to posing for Madonna's Material Girl ad campaign earlier this year, Momsen was recently named the face of John Galliano's new fragrance, which will debut later this year.

How do you guys feel about Taylor Momsen? Do you embrace her new rock-n-roll wild-child persona, or do you miss her GG days, when a pink headband and a seat at the top of the Met stairs was enough to keep her inspired?

Katy Perry's latest single, Teenage Dream, has finally hit the internet. It's a little more love ballad-y than her usual bubble gum fare, and the Russell Brand allusions aren't tough to spot.

You can listen to the single here

This weekend, AMC will debut the season four premiere of their hallmark show, Mad Men. It's a show about an advertising agency in the early 1960s, but in addition to some great writing, the show has provided some great 60s-reminiscent sartorial inspiration. Especially for women.

The show is styled by Katherine Jane Bryant (who, incidentally, is coming out with a line of her own), and since the show provides such a rich cast of female characters for her to dress, there's also a great variety of style among the (super awesome) women.

First, there's the intrepid, take-no-prisoners Peggy Olson.

Then, we have Joan Holloway -- office siren: smart, sassy, savvy, and gorgeous.

Betty Draper isn't necessarily someone I'd want for a mom -- but I have nothing against her Grace Kelly-esque wardrobe.

And then, of course, there's Don Draper.
40829235.jpgThe only element of this picture that I don't condone is the cigarette.

Will you be watching Mad Men this Sunday?

Charice Pempengco, an 18-year-old Filipina singer who is set to become the newest Glee cast member, said in a recent interview that her preparation for the role included... getting botox?

"All people will be anticipating how will Charice look?" she said. "Is she good enough to pit against Rachel Berry? So of course there is tremendous pressure."

The teenage singer subsequently underwent a 30-minute Thermage skin-tightening procedure -- plus Botox -- to slim down her "naturally round face."

What do you guys think? Should teenagers be getting botox? What do you guys think??

According to a report in a recent People magazine, Meryl Streep and Tina Fey may team up to do a movie together -- and it would be produced by Stanley Tucci, Streep's partner in last year's great Julie & Julia.

So far, the details are scant, but the project, tentatively called Mommy & Me, would be a mother-daughter comedy. It strikes me that Fey might be a little bit old to be calling Streep mommy? But I won't complain -- I'm excited about seeing this team of funny ladies team up!

Recently, a study was released detailing the great American obsession with Facebook. So it's no surprise that everyone's talking about The Social Network -- the upcoming David Fincher-directed film about Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg, the man behind the network, and the story of how it all came to be. Another reason everyone's talking about it? Zuckerberg does not come off so well.... Check it out:

What do you guys think? Are you excited to see the movie this fall?
Inception appears to be this summer's Most Respectable Blockbuster: It stars actors who always make the right choices -- Leo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt -- has a plot that is simultaneously confusing, intriguing, and action-packed, and just generally looks totally awesome. So naturally, it comes as no surprise that the cast was equally-impeccable at the movie's London premiere. Check out a few of our favorite get-ups, below.

Ellen Page

Understated, but interesting and even a tiny bit elegant. Lovely!

Marion Cotillard

Could anyone else in the universe pull off this dress? Doubtful -- but on her, it looks great!

Cillian Murphy

This is what a suit should look like.

Peaches Geldof

The girl could maybe use a shower, but the dress is just fine!

Pixie Geldof

Babydoll dress meets biker jacket meets dainty gold jewelry. She pulls it off -- even if just barely.

The only misstep of the night was ...

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Eesh. Maybe just a tiny bit too much?

madonna-lourdes-hija.jpg

Awhile ago, we mentioned on this blog that Lourdes Leon, Madonna's 13 (almost 14) year old daughter was involved with an 80s-inspired fashion line, called "Material Girl," that her mom is working on in conjunction with Macy's. Well, the site for the line is up -- and its blog features some charming contributions from young Lourdes!

In her introductory post, Lourdes gabs about turning 14, dying her hair, and her ambivalence about rompers.

She also expounds on her love for 80s garb -- which, incidentally, is the theme of her mom's new collection:

"I am totally obsessivo about 80's shorts... You know the kind that makes your butt look kinda big, with a grunge-looking shirt tucked in. It's kinda nerdy but I love it. And the 80's are another huge obsession of mine, which is totally amazingly awesome because Material Girl...HELLO! It's like 80's themed, which pretty much rocks, so yeah. I'm still in love with brogues or as some people call them "oxford shoes". I haven't found a good sandal so I'm on like a search right now."

What do you think? Would you wear clothes from the Material Girl collection?
