Who knows how long it's been, at least half a century. The golden girls are going to prom again this year.  No, not the senior citizens on late night TV, we're talking about the return of gold as the hottest color for prom dresses this year.  Whether it gold beading, gold lace, gold satin, or the new metallic gold Alisha Hill shoes, everyone seems to want something gold for prom.
The favorite dress thus far is a gold lace and silk satin ball gown by Jovani.  Unlike the traditional ball gown, this version features a flowing gold satin skirt without crinoline. Oxford has an equivalent of the May Ball and is known as the "Commem" due to the fact that it is held in the 9th week of the Trinity term.

Peterhouse and Magdalene hold biannual white tie balls, most recently 2005-Magdalene 2006-Peterhouse. Both balls are known for having strict dresses codes and an extremely lavish event.

One of the other top Jovani 2006 prom styles is # 10434. Cinderella only wished she had a gown this georgeous! Layers of light blue and sparkling metallic gold tulle are accented with several mixed shades of soft metallic gold and light blue sequins.
