scanlan-1.jpgAs we mentioned last weekend, Sherri Hill featured prominently at this year's Miss America pageant -- but we want to thank and congratulate all the girls who wore our designs!

In addition to the newly-crowned queen Teresa Scanlon and Kayla Martell, of Delaware (both of whom we already wrote about here), three other of the top twelve Miss America contestants were wearing Sherri Hill on the big night.

Just want to give a big thanks and shout-out to all of the beautiful young women who wore Sherri Hill during their big moments. So here's to Miss America 2011 Teresa Scanlon, of Nebraska; Emoly West, of Oklahoma; Djuan Trent, of Kentucky; Kayla Martell, of Delaware, Alyse Eady, of Arkansas.

Hope you're enjoying your success!
kayla-1.jpgAt last night's Miss America pageant, Delaware's Kayla Martell became only the third-ever Miss Delaware to make it to the top ten finalists -- and her story is truly inspiring. Martell, a 22-year-old native of Milford, Delaware, has alopecia areata -- an autoimmune disease that caused her to lose her hair at just ten years old. But she didn't let it stop her from pursuing her dreams -- and last night, Martell was an inspiring example to us all.

"You can't be defined and shouldn't be defined by your hair," Martell told the Delaware Online in a recent interview.

Martell, who has competed in the Miss Delaware pageant five times (three times without wigs; two times with them) is a remarkable example of why it's worth it to fight for your dreams.

Did we mention she wore a Sherri Hill evening gown? (We'll update the post with photos as soon as we get some prints in.)

Congrats again to Kayla!

scanlan-1.jpgCongratulations to Teresa Scanlan, the 17-year-old from Nebraska who last night was crowned Miss America!

And she was crowned in this gorgeous Sherri Hill dress! (Check it out on the left.)

The Nebraskan was the youngest woman to win the Miss America contest since it made its debut ninety years ago -- but Scanlan already has big plans for the future. In an interview with the Associated Press, she said she plans to eventually go to law school and become a politician so that she could "stand up for what's right, stand up for integrity and honesty."

"At this point, attorneys and politicians are looked down on and have terrible reputations for being greedy and power hungry," Scanlan said. "I really think it's important for people who have their heart and mind in the right place get into those powerful positions."

Congrats again to the beautiful winner! And check out another picture of her stunning in Sherri Hill after the jump.

Miss_America_Caressa_Cameron12.jpg

This Saturday in Vegas, Caressa Cameron, a 22-year-old from Virginia, was declared 2010's Miss America. Cameron, who sang "Listen" from Dreamgirls for her talent portion of the competition, is currently in school studying broadcast news (although she'll take some time off to perform her duties), and has apparently been dreaming of winning the crown since she was a kid. But most importantly, she was wearing a Sherri Hill gown when she did it.

Obviously, as soon as Caressa won, TMZ dug up an old, unflattering school picture of her -- with braces, and what was deemed an "untidy bun" -- from the 9th grade. My own freshman year school picture was, of course, WAY worse than this one, and there were plenty other hideously awkward ones where that came from.  I'm guessing that this is the worst picture ever taken of Cameron? (And are braces really a 14-year-old's fault?) So chances are she is not really the "former geek" she's being made out to be. But either way, looks like everything ended up okay for her in the end. Congratulations, Caressa!

miss-america-2008.jpgKristen Haglund was born on November 30, 1989 in Farmington Hills, Michigan. She graduated from Walled Lake Western High School in Michigan in 2006 and is currently attending The University of Cincennati, where she is majoring in Musical Theatre.

Haglund won the Miss Oakland County title and went on to compete in the Miss Michigan title for the first time in 2007. She won the preliminary swimsuit competition, then went on to win the title of Miss Michigan. She was eventually crowned the 83rd Miss America on January 26, 2008. She is Michigan's fifth Miss America in twenty years and she was the youngest girl in the competition at age 19.

Haglund's family has a history of pageants, as her grandmother was crowned Miss Michigan 1944 and her mother an active pageant volunteer. After the pageant, Haglund pledged to use her crown to bring awareness to eating disorders, which she suffered from when she was only sixteen years old. She uses eating disorders as her personal platform. She received a $50,000 scholarship and a one year stint as the spokesperson for the Miss America organization. She also won the Lifestyle and Fitness award and a $1,000 scholarship. After her reign as Miss America, she hopes to become an aspiring Broadway star.

Jan. 29, 2007, Nelson represented Oklahoma in the Miss America 2007 pageant and was crowned the 82nd Miss America. She received a $50,000 with the title.
Nelson is a student at the University of Central Oklahoma and her goal is to be a Broadway performer. She showed off her vocal skills during the talent performance of the competition. She has also expressed support for Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama.
Most recently, Nelson teamed up with Josh Walsh from FOX network's TV show America's Most Wanted to assist in the apprehension of potential child predators. Miss America 2006 Jennifer Berry was born on July 18, 1983 in Houston, Texas. She graduated from an Oklahoma high school in 2001 and attended the University of Oklahoma, earning a degree in elementary education.
