Every year, it seems the Miss USA pageant is plagued by the eternal question: Should the swimsuit competition continue? Some wonder at the necessity of that particular part of the contest, and say it's objectifying women's bodies. Others think it's a tried-and-true part of pageant history, and that it's really not so big a deal. Well, according to AsiaOne, Miss Singapore, which is a local franchise of the Miss World competition, may be eliminating its swimsuit competition -- or, at the very least, minimizing it. Earlier this year Miss World CEO Julia Morley criticized the pageant as "having a showgirl club image." Now Raymund Ooi, who manages Miss Singapore, is saying that the swimsuit portion of the contest will be cut altogether or pared down to a "quick walk-through."
