Make Up for Prom

| | Comments (1) | TrackBacks (0)
It can be very easy to over-do-it when applying our everyday make-up, and it's obvious too. Don't let prom night be another one of those heavy-duty make-up evenings. This night has to be perfect and we have some easy tips to help your make-up look fantastic for prom night.
First, let's give a run-down on the important things to consider when applying make-up: foundation, eyes, lips and blush.
When you apply foundation, make sure that your face is clean and you remove old make-up or dirt. Once your face is clean, select a foundation that perfectly matches your skin tone. It is always obvious when a girl is wearing a concealer or foundation that is way too dark or light. It is also important to cover up any blemishes or discolored areas from sun damage. WATCH OUT for foundation lines around the neck, so double-check to make sure that everything is blended in.
Next, choose between the lips and the eyes. If you highlight both with lots of make-up, you will just look like you are over-doing it. Big mistake. If you choose the eyes, pick eyeliner that compliments the dress and contrasts with the eye shadow. You do not want them to totally match the dress. Smoky eyes are another great look for prom. Here are some steps to getting those smoky eyes:
Before you apply anything, make sure that your eyelids are oil-free. Start with a primer.
Next, apply the eyeliner. Apply black, brown or gray liner above the upper lash line. Draw the line thicker in the middle of the eye. If you feel like spicing things up, go for a purple, blue or deep-green liner.
If you want to apply eyeliner under the bottom lash line, you need lighter color eyeliner. Smudge the bottom liner for the real smoky effect.
Now it is time to apply the base color, which should also be lighter. Cream or pearl shades create shimmery shadows over the eyelids. Check out different bases at Sephora.
Now to make the eyelids smoky you need a darker eye shadow and an eye shadow brush. Start blending the color at your lash line. Make sure the liner disappears.
If you need some help blending, use a Q-tip.
Add the finishing touches with some mascara.

The next step is applying blush. Think about your fashion style and your skin color. The more natural, the better.
For your lips, decided between lip-gloss and lipstick. Some girls just want their lips to shine, but if you choose lipstick, you want your lips to be bright. Red and dark pinks are always hot for prom. Don't pick a color your grandmother would wear. And remember if you choose to do bright lip stick to keep your eyes simple.
