A chic head band may be necessary for wild, shorter hair. Now for makeup. All you need for a quick fix: concealer, mascara, your regular blush, preferably a sheer, opalescent multi-tinted blush and lip gloss. You know what to do to get a dewy glow in seconds flat. Touch up nails with quick-dry clear or translucent color. Don't try a full out French manicure. If you're really in a crunch, throw a file in your purse and smooth rough edges in the car. Um, excuse me, but your face is melting. The absolute last thing you want to hear about your make up during the hot summer heat. How to avoid becoming a puddle of colorful, lip glossy goop? Tiza's here to help, as usual. Follow these tips for many drip-free summer days with a pretty polished face. Just like your wardrobe, your skin changes drastically during the summer. Get to know your skin before you brush on blush. Oily skin? Limit the moisturizer. Only apply to vital areas like under the eyes. This will at least give you a little more time in the sun before your start glowing. For dry skin, use an oil-free moisturizer during the summer months. If you're comfy in your skin, ditch the foundation for summer. Let your skin breathe in the heat. This will save you time in the morning and more money for snow cones! If you must wear foundation, don't do multiple layers. The more you cake on, the more that can slough off. Gross. Embrace your freckles. Don't cover up those angel kisses. Freckles are hot little accessories you don't have to take off. They tell everyone that you've spent time outside and are proud of your skin. When you get a little color in your face, make sure your concealer still matches. You may need to invest in a concealer a few shades darker depending on how tan you get. Always wear moisturizer and make up with SPF. No buts about it. Also, remember waterproof mascara and eye liner. Another must. To avoid obvious melty crinkles on your eyelids, toss the dark colors and go for pearly, luminous shades. Colors to try: peach, ecru, taupe, pale pinks. |
Dribble wine on your fine dress? Got a grass stain? Don't let a little spot put a damper on your evening--arm yourself with these stain proof tidbits of cleanly advice. Try to doctor your dress as soon as you notice the stain. You'll have better luck breaking up a blemish if it's still wet. Water is the ultimate stain-be-gone, especially if the spot is fresh. Water lifts away many stains like dirt and soda drops. Soak the fabric in water, or if you're wearing the dress, dab water onto the stain for several minutes. Don't rub, just dab. You don't want to spread the substance from a polka dot to a mega spot. If water won't work--like when the stain is dry or really large--try rubbing a little liquid laundry detergent or dishwashing liquid on the bit of nasty and let soak for 30 minutes. Rinse well with water. If the stain disappears, let it dry and wear away. For sweat, blood, or any protein-rich food like egg or meat from dinner, soak the stain overnight in laundry detergent. But be oh so careful with fine fabrics. If the tag says dry clean only, dry clean only. Whatever you do, do NOT put your stained dress in the dryer. Heat will set the stain permanently. No good. This goes for all fabrics. Every girl gets a little clumsy now and then. Don't fret--a dress well worn makes for a lifetime of memories. And if the stain won't come out, even after dry cleaning, the world will not fall apart. Promise. Every stain has a story and Tiza's always here to dress you up in a fresh, stain-free dress. |
The invite reads "formal attire, please." But what the heck does that mean? Party definitions can be quite controversial. Let's get the rules straight, so you wear what's right when arriving fashionably late. Black Tie: Get dressy! A lacy short dress with a heart-shaped torso and the right heels are perfect for a black tie event. But a long, flowing train the barely brushed the floor could work, too. It really depends on your mood and what you like to wear. Formal Attire: Typically calls for a long dress. Usually the same as black tie. White Tie or Ultra Formal: Jazz it up. Guys will wear full dress--white tie, vest, the works. Ladies opt for full-length gowns. An A-line ball gown will do. Fancy schmancy! Black Tie Optional: Best to feel it out. What's the occasion? Consider time of day and the crowd. Depending on the party, anything from a cute mini to a silky full-length will work. Semi-Formal or After Five: This means long dresses are not required. Again, consider the occasion and time of day. Cocktail: Short, elegant dresses are best for a cocktail party. Don't go too casual, nothing you'd wear to church or a picnic. Sequins and embroidery are totally cool. Of course, if you have questions, always call the host. She'll be thrilled that you care about what you wear to her event. Shop on! |
