It's not always easy being different in high school -- but Andrew Viveros, a transgender teen from Davies, Florida, is embracing her identity and trying to make a difference. And her popularity certainly doesn't seem to be hurting as a result: the brave student at McFatter Technical High School was crowned prom queen earlier this spring.
"I am trying to do every interview I can," Viveros told the Sun-Sentinel in an interview. "I don't want to turn anyone down. Anyone might be watching or reading."
Viveros, who also goes as Andii, recently made a video for the "It Gets Better" campaign -- and since being crowned queen, she's set up a website encouraging young people to "Tell Me Your Story!"
"I want people to know there is someone they can talk to," she said.
"I love that my message is getting out there," she continued. "Everyone that has been bullied or taunted because they are different, I am proof that things get better. I want people to feel like they can be themselves."
