Taylor Swift Gets Angry - And Even

SWIFT-Jp-1-articleLarge.jpegAre you excited for Taylor Swift's new album, "Speak Now"? I am. And not (just) because the record is sure to be packed with poppy, endlessly-loopable jams. (Although of course it is.) The album is also supposed to be "the most savage of her career, and also the most musically diverse," as well as "possibly her best," according to a recent feature on the young singer in the New York Times.

To add to the already-long list of potentially appealing things about this record is "Dear John" -- a song that seems to reference John Mayer, with whom Swift performed earlier this year and who the tabloids reported she was dating. (Swift has remained mum on the subject.) Whoever this "John" is, however, he is clearly bad news: "You'll add my name to the long list of traitors/Who don't understand/And I'll look back and regret how I ignored when they said/'Run as fast as you can!'" Swift sings in the song. "The girl in the dress/Cried the whole way home."

Ouch. I can't wait to hear the actual song.

What do you think? Will you buy Swift's new album?
Oh, things get so dramatic around the VMAs! It looks like Taylor Swift will be performing tonight; what was supposed to be a "top secret performance" was (obv) leaked to the press so that all of Taylor Swift's billions of fans would be sure to watch tonight's VMAs. (Won't they be watching anyway?) But there's also a rumor going around that Kanye wrote Swift a song -- but that she wants nothing to do with it. (My question is, if Kanye wrote Swifty a song, shouldn't he sing it himself?) And now it turns out that the song she's singing tonight is about the whole VMA fiasco from last year. This is getting to be too much for me. Anyway, we're going to leave you with the video of "Mine" to get you through the long hours until the VMAs.

Taylor Swift is out with her latest video, Mine, which pays homage to the country star's favorite kind of old-fashioned, fairytale-ending love story. As Toby Hemingway, Swift's love interest in the video, said, "it's [an] evolving family story," about a young couple struggling to make it work over time. Swift said the story was inspired by her "tendency to run from love," and "finding the exception to that." Mine debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Digital Songs Chart and No. 3 on Billboard's Hot 100. Check out the video here and let us know what you think!

Speaking of Taylors! Taylor Swift, the more innocent of the two blond singers, has released the details of her next album, Speak Now, which will be released on October 25. There are high hopes for the album, of course: Swift's latest is perhaps the most hotly-anticipated of the year, and record execs are predicting massive sales for it.

Of course, while the industry is concerned with the album's potential as a record-breaking money-maker, most everyone else is just ... excited to hear the new album. Word on the street is there's a marriage scene in one of her upcoming videos. The country singer certainly is growing up fast!

Are you guys excited for the new record?

Summit films has confirmed that Twilight: Breaking Dawn will be released in two parts, as blogger JustJared.com has reported. The first of the two installations will be released in theatres on November 18, 2011, and Dreamgirls director Bill Condon will helm both.

Happy Friday!

Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Carrie Underwood are just three country stars to have recently signed on for the Nashville Rising benefit concert for flood recovery in the storm-ridden region. The show, which will take place at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on June 22, was organized by Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, and the proceeds will go to the Community Foundation, which services the Middle Tennessee region. This comes after last week, when Swift donated $500,000 to the cause.

Tickets for the event will go on sale to the public on Friday, May 14th at 11 a.m. ET at Ticketmaster.com. Prices will range from $25 to $75, and ticket auctions on premium seats and VIP packages will also be available. Visit www.nashvillerising.org for more details.

This week's issue of TIME Magazine reveals the publication's annual list of their pick for the hundred most influential people. Taylor Swift made the cut with room to spare, and had the honor of getting profiled by the one and only Stevie Nicks. Stevie Nicks, in case you are not familiar with her, is one of the most iconic women in the history of rock music. Totally no bias there! Except for that she is maybe my favorite person of all time. Her work with Fleetwood Mac is rivaled only by her solo work, and no one to this day can rock a tambourine the way she did. And of course, she had nice things to say about Taylor:

This girl writes the songs that make the whole world sing, like Neil Diamond or Elton John. She sings, she writes, she performs, she plays great guitar. Taylor can do ballads that could be considered pop or rock and then switch back into country. When I turned 20 years old, I had just made the serious decision to never be a dental assistant. Taylor just turned 20, and she's won four Grammys."

Conclusion: If Taylor Swift ends up being the next Stevie Nicks, which Stevie Nicks is sort of predicting, then the music world will be in good shape.
